LIMPID, an AI company built for animal health, announced on June 15 that it has acquired 100 percent of Petpeotalk (CEO Ryunhwan Kwon), a company specializing in AI video analytics for companion animals, and appointed Kwon as chief technology officer.

Founded in 2019, Petpeotalk is a vision AI company that operates the AI pet camera service Doggyboggy. A dedicated camera in the home films a pet left alone while the owner is out, AI analyzes the footage in real time, and the owner receives a notification on their phone when unusual behavior appears. In effect, AI watches the day of an animal that cannot speak and reports back.

Petpeotalk released its first-year hardware results in May: 120,000 cumulative users, more than 2,400 paying subscribers, a DAU/MAU ratio of 58 percent, and revenue growth of 200 percent year on year. A DAU/MAU of 58 percent among paying subscribers matches the engagement levels of major global social platforms and shows how deeply the service sits in daily routines. The company has raised investment from Naver and Digital Healthcare Partners, among others, and was selected for Google's Changgu program.

Petpeotalk was on its own growth track, and the decision to join LIMPID rested on a judgment that what the two teams could build together was of a different order than what either could reach alone. LIMPID, founded by veterinarians with master's and doctoral training, had the clinical knowledge to define which behavior patterns precede which diseases, but lacked the AI infrastructure to detect them in real time. Petpeotalk had large-scale video data, 350 million cumulative clips, and proven AI models, but its analysis stopped at behavioral issues such as separation anxiety and barking. Combining the two produced AI that detects clinically meaningful changes in behavior.

The two companies had already confirmed the fit through joint research as a consortium since early this year. They were selected as lead institution for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs program on intractable diseases in companion animals, a KRW 6.8 billion project, where they are jointly developing a multimodal AI precision nutrition platform, and they are also running research combining both sides' technology under a Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy project. Having seen the effect of the combination firsthand, they decided on full integration.

CTO Ryunhwan Kwon studied computer engineering at Kyung Hee University and conducted IoT research at Purdue University in the United States before founding Petpeotalk. His technical work was validated by seed investment from Naver. With his arrival, LIMPID pairs a founding team of veterinary researchers with an AI founder backed by Naver.

LIMPID will launch Kinfora, an integrated platform joining AI monitoring and precision nutrition, in July. Behavior data that Doggyboggy collects around the clock feeds an analysis of each animal's health status, and a matching nutrition plan is designed and shipped. The model generates AI subscription revenue and product revenue at the same time.

Heesu Kim, CEO of LIMPID, said, “This acquisition was a decision to make one team out of technology neither side could complete alone. What we ultimately want to build is a digital twin for each individual animal. When the behavior data an AI pet camera collects every day is combined with precision nutrition data and health history, you get a health model for that animal that grows more precise over time. Telling owners before the animal is sick, and feeding it so that it does not get sick, is the technology LIMPID is after.”

LIMPID recorded KRW 2.52 billion in revenue in 2025, up 390 percent year on year. It was recently named a Global IP Star Company by the Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Daegu Metropolitan Government, which brings three years of support in building an overseas patent portfolio.
