Subscription model settles in after the launch of a dedicated IP camera, establishing recurring revenue
DAU/MAU of 58 percent puts stickiness on par with TikTok and Facebook
Digital behavior biomarker development with a veterinary partner planned for the second half, alongside global expansion
Petpeotalk (CEO Ryunhwan Kwon), a startup specializing in AI behavior analysis for companion animals, released performance data on May 26 marking the first anniversary of Doggyboggy, its AI pet camera built on a dedicated IP camera. Doggyboggy analyzes pet behavior with AI in real time and alerts owners when it detects something unusual. In May last year the service moved from an app running on a spare smartphone to a dedicated IP camera, becoming an integrated hardware and software solution.
The headline figure in the first-year report is more than 2,000 paying subscribers. Alongside hardware sales, Doggyboggy runs a monthly premium AI analysis subscription, and paying subscribers passed 2,000 within a year of launch. That represents a base of customers who pay rather than free traffic, and it puts the dual revenue structure of hardware sales plus monthly subscriptions on track.
The subscription model fed directly into revenue growth. Revenue rose from roughly KRW 66 million in 2024 to about KRW 199 million in 2025, a 200 percent increase year on year.
The other figure drawing attention is a DAU/MAU ratio of 58 percent among paying subscribers. A DAU/MAU above 50 percent is treated as a gold standard in the industry, with TikTok at around 55 percent and Facebook above 50 percent. Doggyboggy's 58 percent shows that owners open the service out of daily habit.
Across the whole service, cumulative users reach 120,000 and registered pets 75,000. AI has analyzed 171.25 million clips into meaningful behavior patterns, the largest companion animal behavior dataset among domestic pet camera services.
Petpeotalk said it plans to begin developing digital behavior biomarkers in the second half through a strategic partnership with a company holding veterinary R&D capability, using the video data it has accumulated. Digital behavior biomarkers quantify changes in a pet's behavior patterns with AI so that signs preceding disease can be caught sooner. Globally, smart collar monitoring is the mainstream approach and contact-free video AI remains at an early stage, an area where Petpeotalk aims to be a first mover.
Ryunhwan Kwon, CEO of Petpeotalk, said, “Two thousand paying subscribers and a DAU/MAU of 58 percent are the numbers that prove Doggyboggy has become part of daily life for pet owners. In the second half we will develop digital behavior biomarkers with a veterinary R&D partner and take them to the global market.”
Since its founding in 2019, Petpeotalk has raised investment from Naver D2SF, The Invention Lab, Digital Healthcare Partners, and the Korea Venture Investment Corporation.
