Video AI digital behavior biomarkers to reveal intractable disease earlier and carry it through to tailored nutrition
LIMPID, an AI company built for animal health, announced on May 12 that it has signed a multi-party memorandum of understanding with Sookmyung Women's University, Kyungpook National University, the Korea Testing Certification Institute (KTC), and LV Veterinary Clinical Center to develop a multimodal AI precision nutrition management platform for complex intractable diseases in companion animals.
The agreement follows the consortium's selection for the 2026 national R&D program on overcoming intractable diseases in companion animals. The five institutions will work together on commercializing video AI digital biomarkers that reveal disease earlier, and precision nutrition therapy, targeting four groups of complex intractable conditions: urinary, digestive, obesity and metabolic, and cardiovascular.
What sets the consortium apart is that it covers the full chain from technology development to academic verification, clinical validation, and industry standardization rather than technology development alone.
Under the agreement, LIMPID as lead institution directs overall platform development and commercialization. Sookmyung Women's University (research team of Professor Eunju Cha, College of Engineering) develops the core AI algorithms and multimodal data analysis. Kyungpook National University (research team of Professor Seulgi Bae, College of Veterinary Medicine) handles clinical verification and validation at the university animal hospital on the basis of veterinary domain knowledge. LV Veterinary Clinical Center (CEO Sejin Han) supplies real clinical data and verifies treatment effects. KTC (division head Changmin Kim) supports performance evaluation and industry standardization of the resulting AI products and solutions.
At the heart of the platform is digital behavior biomarker technology, which jointly analyzes multimodal data - behavior video collected from pet cameras and CCTV, and electronic medical records - to catch signs of disease sooner. LIMPID plans to release B2B solutions for animal hospitals and B2C solutions for owners within the year, alerting owners before disease develops and proposing a precision nutrition plan matched to the animal's condition.

LIMPID, founded by veterinarians, was recently named lead institution for a KRW 5.1 billion national research project and completed FDA Food Facility Registration in the United States, and is preparing for overseas expansion on the basis of its veterinary video AI capability and in-house manufacturing.
