- Five investors including Samsung Fire & Marine-Infobank and KNU Technology Holdings join for a total of KRW 1.5 billion - Manufacturing, clinical research and platform under one roof: "Competing globally with freeze-dried therapeutic diets"
Bio pet food startup LIMPID announced that it had raised a total of KRW 1.5 billion in a Series Pre-A round closed in the first half of the year. Samsung Fire & Marine-Infobank, Oracle Venture Investment, Kyungpook National University Technology Holdings, CNT Tech and the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund took part.
LIMPID plans to direct the proceeds toward three areas: entering the North American market, expanding the 'TrustyFood' everyday diet and 'Dr.Trusty' therapeutic diet lines, and strengthening clinical-trial-based R&D.
Last year the company acquired a freeze-dried pet food plant, lowering production costs and bringing quality control in house. It then launched 'Dr.Trusty', the first freeze-dried therapeutic diet brand, in the alternative diet segment. LIMPID is also setting up a joint venture with the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kyungpook National University to run a clinical trial center dedicated to pet food, and collects and analyzes feeding data through the Saladpet platform to deliver health care services. With manufacturing, clinical research and platform connected in one vertically integrated structure, the company had already passed last year's full-year revenue by mid-2025, and expects annual revenue to grow 600 percent year on year.
CEO Heesu Kim said, "In the United States, the shift from conventional diets to alternative diets is moving fast. Freshpet and The Farmer's Dog opened that market with fresh-cooked food, and we intend to compete there on freeze-drying."
Sanghyun Cho, Managing Director at Oracle Venture Investment, explained the rationale: "LIMPID has brought freeze-dry manufacturing, a clinical trial center and a data platform together in one vertically integrated pet food company. We expect it to show results quickly in North America and scale globally."
In the second half of the year, LIMPID plans to list on major North American e-commerce channels and finalize local partnerships to begin generating overseas revenue in earnest. It will also broaden its functional therapeutic diet and plant-protein vegan diet lines as it grows into a global companion animal nutrition company.
