- Freeze-dried therapeutic diets introduced to the pet food market for the first time - 'Recovered Relationship' slogan puts the focus on restoring the bond between guardian and animal
Bio pet food startup LIMPID (CEO Heesu Kim) held the launch seminar for 'Dr.Trusty', the first freeze-dried therapeutic diet brand, on April 13 at the Kyowon Tour lecture hall in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Held under the theme of disease prevention and nutritional solutions, the seminar focused on formulas developed for animals living with chronic conditions such as diabetes, pancreatitis and food allergy. The session drew added attention on the back of the market reception for LIMPID's flagship brand 'TrustyFood' and the data accumulated through its health care platform 'Saladpet'.
Under the slogan 'Recovered Relationship', the seminar set out Dr.Trusty's brand philosophy: restoring the bond between guardians and animals whose appetite has fallen away because of illness. Mealtime is a moment of connection when an animal is well, but it can turn into a source of stress once illness suppresses appetite. Dr.Trusty aims to address that with freeze-dried therapeutic diets built for palatability.
Dr. Kkotnoeul Son, veterinarian
Opening the program, Dr. Kkotnoeul Son said, "The core of managing diabetes in companion animals is sustained blood glucose control. That does not simply mean cutting sugar; it means raising soluble fiber and adjusting the carbohydrate ratio precisely so that glucose spikes are minimized." She added, "Dr.Trusty uses freeze-drying to keep taste and nutrients intact while delivering a diet optimized for glycemic control."

Dr. Sejin Han, who presented on pancreatitis, said, "In dogs and cats, the most important factors in managing pancreatitis are controlling fat content and supplying protein appropriately. In dogs in particular, fat intake can stimulate the pancreas, so a low-fat diet is recommended, and cats also need a degree of fat restriction." He explained, "Dr.Trusty developed low-fat, moderate-protein therapeutic formulas based on current veterinary nutrition research, with a focus on digestibility and nutritional balance."

Dr. Changtae Kim, the final presenter, said, "Food allergy is about more than avoiding one protein. You have to account for cross-reactivity between ingredients and the animal's history of protein exposure." He added, "Dr.Trusty is built on a limited ingredient diet (LID) using a single novel protein such as horse meat, which the animal has not encountered before, and freeze-drying lets us keep the risk of an allergic response low while holding palatability and safety together."
