- Core production equipment and business rights of Attifood acquired and now in full operation - 'Dr.Trusty', the first freeze-dried therapeutic diet, arrives this month
Bio pet food company LIMPID announced that it acquired the core production equipment and business rights of Attifood, a Korean freeze-dried pet food manufacturer, in November 2024 and has brought the facility into full operation. The acquisition substantially expands LIMPID's freeze-dry production capacity and strengthens its position in the premium pet food market.
LIMPID was the first company in Korea to develop a freeze-dried therapeutic diet, clearing a technical barrier that had kept the category closed. Applying freeze-drying to therapeutic diets, which had no precedent globally, preserves far more of the nutrient content and delivers markedly higher palatability than conventional extrusion, making it well suited to managing chronic disease. On the back of that capability and its production infrastructure, LIMPID will formally release 'Dr.Trusty', the first freeze-dried therapeutic diet brand, in February.
The acquisition positions LIMPID as more than a feed manufacturer: it is becoming a bio pet food company that covers companion animal nutrition and clinical research as well. The company is establishing a joint venture with Kyungpook National University to launch Korea's first contract research organization (CRO) dedicated to feed clinical trials, and is developing products backed by scientific verification. With that step, LIMPID is putting a vertical integration strategy in place spanning precision nutrition formulation, clinical research and production alongside manufacturing.
CEO Heesu Kim said, "This acquisition gives us our own production capability and a foundation for stronger R&D and clinical verification. The fact that Dr.Trusty, not only TrustyFood, will be produced at this plant means we are building technical depth and market position at the same time."
LIMPID added that it plans to extend beyond freeze-dried therapeutic diets into the premium functional diet market, competing in Korea and abroad on product quality and a scientific approach.
